Company Owners
Paul and Yves Dingens are running the company since 1992.
Paul : We did start the company as a workhouse for glassblowing. We started with making glass instruments for the contra-barometers. It was a small workhouse with only one person at work during the week. We could'nt pay for more people at that very begining. My brother and I did work night and day to build up that small company, Setting-up administration, finding customers, developing new and faster ways to produce the instruments...
Yves: After 18 months we did save enough money to buy, with the help of the bank of course, the company of our parents. Thanks to that we could ensure at one hand the brand name of our parents company "Dingens Barometers" and at the other hand we had a potential of 1000 new customers.
Paul :
Developing new products and bringing production to the highest quality standards was our target. Nowadays we develop each year about 10 new items. In 1994-1995 we were confronted with a demand from environmentalists. They asked us to develop a new instrument without mercury but with the same precision as the Torricelli or Huygens barometer. The goal was to create an accurate instrument that could work for 100 years without a polluting battery. It should not be a throw-away electronic barometer.
Yves Dingens : For this project we had the support of Flanders Technology. Also, the University of Diepenbeek (L.U.C.) was involved in this project.

Since 1997 the Eco-celli barometer is patented. On the International Fair Silmo in France - Paris, we did get International Recognition for this project. We were nominated for the "Prix Technologie". This nomination was an opening to new markets.
Paul Dingens : Last year we did develop a new mercury barometer for the high-end market. It is called the Terra Nova barometer. It's a new highlight in our technologie and design activity (See Belgian Newspaper : De Tijd: Beste Dingen)
