Based on a Thermoscope invented by Galileo Galilei in the early 1600's The Galileo Thermometer consists of a sealed glass tube that is filled with a liquid and several floating bubbles.
These glass spheres have been precisely weighted so that they respond to temperature changes by rising or falling in a liquid filled, hand blown glass cylinder. The lowest floating sphere indicates the current air temperature.
